The Maritime Archaeology Trust is a registered charity in UK with over 20 years’ experience in research, investigations and pioneering techniques for the study of marine cultural heritage. Its ethos is simple: to protect and promote interest, research and knowledge of maritime archaeology and heritage

Originating in the South of England as the Hampshire and Wight Trust for Maritime Archaeology, it grew from its regional roots to an internationally renowned authority on maritime archaeological issues and research.

The Maritime Archaeology Trust  engages some of best researchers and academics in marine archaeology and leads, contributes to, and works in partnership on projects with a range of UK and EU organisations and funding bodies.

Moreover, the MAT is at the forefront of archaeological outreach, with a highly regarded Education and Outreach programme that has been operating locally, nationally, regionally and internationally for over a decade.

Through the creation of resources and activities, face-to-face interaction with the public of all ages and background and the training of educators, the Maritime Archaeology Trust has extensive experience of engaging, enthusing and educating people about their maritime heritage.
